Does anyone know if Sub Phatty CV out modification will be possible?
I really need this… Is there a reason why this is not done yet?
I have moogerfoogers which want to work in reference with envelope and mod.
Isn’t anyone interested in this?
It is my understanding that Sub Phatty cannot have CV Outs, even with a factory Modification.
It probably can, but it might be more work or more risk than it’s worth.
Note that the Little Phatty CV out, on a Tribute (which is the oldest of the Phatty line) has the CV Pitch connection to something called SUM_A which is a test point that the Moog techs use to scope/measure pitch output. Chances are that something like that also exists on the Sub.
I’m guessing, but at some point, even digitally generated signals (such as envelope generator output) crosses into the Analog domain and at this point, you would grab the signal, appropriately buffer it and adjust (invert or scale possibly) then present to a 1/4" output.
If Moog isn’t up for it, I wouldn’t bother trying; some products are designed with header rows for this very purpose; a manufacturer will wait to see how a product takes off, what the market will be, assess whether or not it will be more of a hardship to retrofit and subsequently support.
But I’m sure it’s possible. If you have a SubPhatty and are adventurous, take it apart and take some good pictures, I’d like to see how it compares to my Tribute.
