Hi all. I built a simple ribbon controller for my sub 37, and it worked great for a while. It still does when controlling the volume and the filter. I’m having issues with the pitch cv, however. I think I somehow messed up the input because it used to work great, spanning the entire ribbon from the root note being held to maybe 4 or so octaves higher. Now, however, it only works on the first inch or so (of a 24") ribbon, and it goes backwards, from high to low! I’ve used my moog expression pedal and the same thing happens, so I know it’s not the controllers themselves. Am I correct in thinking I must have messed up the parameters somehow? Any insight would be very appreciated. Thanks everyone!
It’s probably time to perform a PITCH CV CALIBRATION.
From page 42:
PITCH CV CAL
When this is highlighted, pressing the CURSOR button takes you into the PITCH CV CALIBRATION SUB MENU which allows you to run a calibration routine for incoming pitch control voltages.
RECORD 1V
Send 1 Volt DC to the PITCH CV Input jack and then press SAVE.
RECORD 4V
Send 4 Volt DC to the PITCH CV Input jack and then press SAVE.
SET DEFAULT
If you are not happy with your own calibration. Press SAVE and the default 1V and 4V calibration is restored.
Thanks for the help. I’d tried that earlier to no avail, but just messing around with it a bit, it’s changing the parameters, so it’s definitely on the right track, though the default setting doesn’t do anything but set it back to how it was. What’s the best/easiest/most accurate way to produce 1 and 4+ voltages in? Thanks again.
Do you, by any chance, have another Moog with PITCH CV outs?
That’s the best/easiest way, fer sure.
I don’t. I have an Opus 3, and a casio sk-1. I’m messing around with a volume pedal to try and get the parameters back, and it’s working except that it doesn’t start at the held note, it starts one octave higher and goes up from there…so I’m obviously not being very accurate in my method. I’m surprised, but setting the factory default doesn’t seem to be working at all.
Is there another way of generating +1 and +4 volts. App? Software? Battery?
You could do it with a battery, a potentiometer, a two-lead cable with a male TS 1/4", and a volt-ohm meter.
Use the pot to get voltage to +1 and +4 as read on the meter.
Then connect to PITCH CV in.
Thanks! That did it. I made a 9v cv generator as you said. Kind of fun messing around with other parameters…5v, 8v, etc. Thanks for your help. I still have no idea how the sub37 got un-calibrated from +1v and +4v, but now I know how to fix that problem. Take care,
Craig
