Hi All, i am new on this Forum but not new to Analog Synthesizers. I just bought the Sub 37 and the Virus TI2.
I am a well seasoned Sound Engineer on Analog and Modular Synths. Yes i do read the manual too but sometimes
its easier to find what you need by asking. I am having hard time with the Modulation on the Sub 37 in many
areas but i will figure out most of it fast. The thing i wanna ask is specific.
How can i Control the Frequency of the OSCs using one of the EGs, mostly the FEG. In the MOD 2 i found a way,
LFO Source set to FEG and Dest to EH TIME/PGM. In the Controllers in MOD BUS 2 the PGM Source is FEG and
PGM DST is OSC 2 FREQ. Now that is exactly what i need. The problem is it does not behave the way i do it
on 10s of other synths. The LFO still cycles thru the FEG and Frequency. What i wanna achieve basically is a
typical HardSync sound with the Pitch starting from High and falling on each key press ala JMJ Laser Harp.
Thank You

Doesn’t selecting the FEG for the “Mod x Source” in a Mod section, and then using the existing “Pitch Amt” control in that Mod do what you want? When you select something other than a LFO waveform, that LFO is essentially removed from the picture, and you’re processing only the selected modulation source.
Thank You Mikeh. Figured that out, i was stupid, lol. Next problem is, i can not find the Filter Cutoff
as a Destination, for example to control it with AfterTouch. It is not in the list unless i have to go thru
some rewiring inside with some Combination. Achieving a standard Hard Sync Lead is impossible either.
But the FC not being in Destinations is more of a problem to me right now.
Thanks
Each MOD section has dedicated knobs for filter cutoff amount as well as oscillator 1 and/or 2 pitch amount, that’s why you’ll not see these in the modulations destination menus.
Hard sync lead is easy: press HARDSYNC, switch osc 2 on and osc1 off, set osc 2 an octave higher than osc 1, now you can sweep osc 2 with a mod section using e.g the filter envelope, or just tweak the frequency button on osc2 for static sync sounds. Instant classic sync sweep
