Sub 37 Midi configuration issue in Ableton

I have the Sub 37 configured and working as an External Instrument in Ableton. It sounds great.

TL;DR - I am hearing the Sub 37 when it’s not armed during playback/recording. What am I doing wrong.

I have a problem using the Sub 37 as my midi controller when I play/record with other instruments after recording a track for the Sub 37.

When I disarm the Sub 37 instrument, and arm another instrument (Grand Piano in screenshot attached), I hear both instruments. This happens during playback or recording in Ableton. If Ableton is stopped, and I tap the keys on the Sub 37, I only hear the armed instrument, not both. The Sub 37 track does not record the keys being played when it is not armed which is good.

I noticed this does not happen if the Sub 37 track is stopped and then playing or recording with GP armed. I only hear the GP, as expected.

I have tried changing the midi channel for the Sub 37 but that doesn’t seem to make a difference. How do I configure the Sub 37 and Ableton so that I only hear the armed instrument and not both the armed instrument AND the Sub 37 during playback or recording?

Thanks for your help.

I think you should turn Local control Off on the Sub 37 and adjust accordingly in Live, please check out page 43 and 45 in the manual for the description of how the function works

Thanks for your response. I had local control off. It seems to be working fine now. Hopefully, I don’t have the issue again.

I am still having trouble configuring my Sub 37 to work as a controller in Ableton. For example, If I record a Sub 37 track, then go back and try to record other tracks, I hear the record sub 37 track (good). When I switch to a different track, and start playing keys, I hear both the Sub 37 and the selected VST. Any idea why when I switch to a different track I still hear the Sub 37 patch when I play?

Right now all tracks are configured like so:

MIDI from: All Ins, All Channels
Monitor: Auto
Audio to: Master

SUB 37: Local Control
Keys: OFF

As long as I don’t record the Sub 37 track, this works fine. Once there is a Sub 37 track, any time I arm another track, I hear the instrument configured for that track and I hear the patch playing on the Sub 37.
