Sub 37 ext in: very low headroom?

I have a Sub 37 and a Vermona Perfourmer. In an effort to approximate a polyphonic Moog, I sent the Perfourmer’s output into the Ext In of the Sub 37. The only problem is that, even with the Perfourmer’s output turned down low (and the Moog’s oscillators and Multidrive turned off), once I hit 3 voices, the signal is quite distorted.

Has anyone else found that the Sub 37’s audio in has extremely low headroom? Or is it possible that I’m overlooking something?

It MAY be the that the ext input on the moog is made for instrument level sources like a guitar going direct. The line level output of most synths is pretty hot. That’s why playing a synth through some guitar fx pedals isn’t great. Maybe try using a DI box with a -20db pad?

No, I haven’t noticed it. I have used a Werkstatt, brutes mini and micro, an MS-20 and an MI Ambika through the EXT jack with no issues. How far up do you have the EXT knob?

Have run Minibrute, MPC, and VST’s through the EXT Input without any problems here. It may be that you should turn the Level of the Peforumer up and the EXT Input down rather than the other way round?
