I’m having issues with the Sub 37 Editor VST in Ableton Live 9.5. Sound will not come out of the Editor and it won’t sync with my Sub 37 meaning that if I choose a sound on the Editor I have to search for it on the Sub 37. Also, if there was a BPM display on the Editor that would be great.
Thanks for replying. I mean like when I have the Sub 37 ON and I’m using a preset from the Sub. I thought the Editor would read/sync that selected preset. Or when I choose a preset directly from the Editor itself that the Sub would sync.
For example, let’s say I have selected a Lead Guitar preset on the Editor and when I check the Sub it’s not that Lead Guitar preset i selected from the Editor.
Yes, I’ve installed the latest firmware and drivers successfully as well as placing the VSTs in the correct folders. So far, I’ve tried it on my Windows 7 Professional X64 computer. I will try it on my Mac tomorrow to see if the same issue is present.
Yes, it communicates with Ableton that way. However, i thought that when choosing presets on the editor that it would automatically change on the hardware as well. By the way, mines says “Hardware Disconnected” on the Librarian tab on the right. Is that normal?
Choosing presets from the right-hand pane in the librarian section of the editor changes to that preset on hardware sub 37 for me. Making changes to the hardware panel eg filter cutoff are reflected in the editor in realtime.
It doesn’t say “hardware disconnected” anywhere for me when it’s working as it should - if I power down the sub 37, the editor then shows “hardware disconnected” to the right of the title bar that says “Number | Presets”.
In the [setup] page in the editor, in the lower-middle “editor settings” pane, the “midi input” and “midi output” sections both show “moog sub 37” for me.
When the Editor shows “Hardware Disconnected” that means that the Editor doesn’t communicate with the synth. This may happen due to lack of drivers (using Editor as a plugin requires that you install the moog USB drivers), USB issues or driver which is not correctly installed.
On a working setup, no “Hardware Disconnected” message should appear, and you should definitely be able to change presets from the Editor and see them changing on the synth, and vice versa.
Please try the following:
From Contol Panel, uninstall moog USB driver
Manually delete the two moog driver files which are placed under C:\Windows\System32\Drivers (moogusbmidi_x64.sys, moogusbmidiks_x64.sys)
Install latest driver v3.30.0
Connect your synth to your PC using a different USB port, and let the system recognize it
Check on Device Manager that the driver is installed correctly, and no exclamation mark appears on it
Load Ableton, look for Sub 37 Editor plug-in, and place it in the multitrack
Make sure that under Set-Up, you have “Moog Sub 37 In” and “Moog Sub 37 Out” assigned as midi connections
Do you still see “Hardware Disconnected” ? You should be able to have them control one another without issues now.
I decided to reinstall the firmware 1.1.13. Everything works now I don’t see the “Hardware Disconnected” sign anymore and the Editor VST works the same way as the Standalone.
Now, the only thing I’m waiting for is a BPM option (display) for the Editor.
Have an awesome day!
Many Thanks,
ET
