Sub 37: Direct Modulations Wish List

Demon only pawn in game of Moog.”

But… it couldn’t hurt to let the Moog gods see your wish list of direct modulations (that don’t require using up MOD 1 or MOD 2).

I’ll start:

I’d love to have a parameter that directly lets you change the speed of an LFO based on the Mod Wheel.

Your turns…

Glide amount

So, everything isn’t a valid wish.

If I have to choose one, I’ll go with the one the started my quest.

Filter EG Amt

Hi Sihaz,

I’ve moved your question to this thread as it is dedicated to exactly the kind of request you’re making.

To recap, some of the requested direct modulations, so far:

MW/AT to LFO Rate

MW/AT to Glide Amount

MW/AT to Filter EG Amount

and MW/AT to Filter Cutoff

All of these would allow you to control something with MW/AT (aftertouch) without having to use up one of your precious LFOs.

Hi dan, thanks for including me here. I should have been a bit clearer earlier though. I don’t map cc2 to cc1, I meant that on the ewi, you can choose what the breath pressure sends out via midi. Choices are breath control, mod wheel, volume. On the newer ewis you can’t have mod wheel but you can have aftertouch. I use modwheel as it’s a 14 bit controller and I generally hear less stepping as I blow harder that way. Still experimenting with all the possibilities on the sub 37 though so there may be a perfect combination. Totally agree with the thread though. Would be great to have a simple software direct link…

Since we’re wishing and dreaming, it would be awesome if I could…

Assign the Filter/Pitch CV EXP Pedal input to something other than Filter Cutoff or Pitch.

  • LFO Rate to simulate Leslie speed control.
  • Arp Rate for texture “chords”
  • OSC Level for all manner of goodness.
  • Etc.

Or, does someone make a simple MIDI EXP Pedal similar to the EP 3?

Hi MoogProg,

I’m with ya’.
Since the majority of the Sub 37’s controls have dedicated CC#s, a flexible continuous foot controller that transmits MIDI is a perfect match.

Here are a few solutions. The first is simple, the others may or may not be overkill, depending on how far you want to push it:

MIDI Solutions Pedal Controller

Behringer MIDI FOOT CONTROLLER FCB1010

Novation ZeRO SL MkII (My favorite way to exploit all Moogerfoogers that end in “M”)

Thanks Dan! That MIDI Solutions box seems to be just what I need. Might have to stuff my own stocking come the holiday.

The Behr foot thing is cool enough, and if those buttons were in a more logical “keyboard” layout (for note triggering), I’d probably be all over it. As is, just too big for my rig and if a product is not just-right-for-me, I’m likely to skip a purchase and wait for tech to catch up.

Probably will talk to you all (@ SW) via side-channel about a proper solution for my feet, so I can play guitar and the Sub at the same time, right?

+1

It’s so nice to slightly speed up pitch modulation along with the depth by pushing the Mod Wheel forward!
