I’m posting this in the Beta forum because it may speak to potential future Moog products and may not be fit for full public consumption, just yet.
With the discontinuation of the Slim Phatty, it would seem that the only “inexpensive” option for true poly-chaining Moog products to the Sub37 to add polyphonic voices is the Minitaur. I realize that there are ways to get the Mother-32 to sort of do poly-chaining with the Sub37, but not on same level of integration as the Minitaur and Slim Phatty.
Are there plans for some sort of replacement product to the Slim Phatty, perhaps based more upon the Sub37?
For me, the perfect Moog product for this application would be to take the “guts” out of a Sub37 and stick it into a 1U or 2U rack space for the sole purpose of adding polyphonic voices to the Sub37 and other Moog products. You wouldn’t even need to have any controls, save for possibly an on/off switch and maybe a few indicator lights on the front panel, to save on cost.
After seeing videos such as this, where 6 Slim Phatty’s are poly-chained, I’m mesmerized with the thought of a polyphonic Moog synth (again) ![]()

I didn’t make it to NAMM this year, but to my knowledge, there were no major new product announcements from Moog at NAMM Winter 2016 (the System 55, 35 & Model 15 re-release, while great, isn’t exactly “new” product).
Thanks in advance for any insights!
