Sub 37 3 note chord?

Hi guys, new to hard synths and just picked up the magnificent sub 37. I know you can play 2 notes at once but can you play a 3 note chord some how? Maybe by tuning the sub osc somehow? Thanks

You can Polychain your Sub 37 with another Moog, e.g. Minitaur, Werkstatt..see Polychain in the manual.

Hey Budge, welcome to the forum

Polychaining is a solution: you need another Moog synth.

About tuning the sub-oscillator, I don’t have any Sub37 but I’m 99% sure it is not possible.

But I just want to suggest a creative alternative. Use a square LFO on one (or both) oscillator(s) to modulate the pitch of it. With a 3-digit LFO rate value (adjust to taste), you may manage to hear a chord with the same flavor of those that the Amiga, Commodore or Gameboy used to achieve with their cheap chips (e.g. SID). The amount of modulation shall match the desired interval.

Let us know

Hi Budge,

You can make a three-note chord on a Sub 37 by setting your Filter RESONANCE high enough to create its own pitch, but not so high as to block out the oscillators. Make the Filter KB TRACKING 100% (12 o’clock), the EG AMT 0% (12 o’clock), and use Filter CUTOFF to choose your third note.

Make sure nothing else is modulating the Filter Cutoff frequency and it will follow your other two notes across the keyboard.
