… at my house.
Yes, my VOS arrives fresh from Asheville tomorrow (so says UPS).
A full tune up and some custom aesthetics. Will post pictures this weekend!

Just wanted to share the pics of my one of a kind custom New-Old-School Synth…
Freshly un-boxed VOS originally purchased from Nova*Musik in 2009
Man I love the old school, more affordable, no issues with midi or operating systems. I just really love the touch pad, if I knew for sure moog would release a stand alone touch pad with cv outs and such I would snatch up an old school as soon as I could.
Your os is awesome, thanks for sharing! What is r47 for? Also, any idea why the os isn’t calibrated for 1v/oct? That detail has always bothered me. Seems like it should be.
So do you mind I I ask how much it set you back? I’ve been thinking about getting the legato upgrade on my os.
But seriously thanks, thanks a lot. I’ll try to be satisfied with my regular blue led-less os going forward. ![]()
I kind of like the old Moog web site better, it had prices for everything and lots of docs for all of the products posted (now gone!).
But to answer your question, the Legato Mod was a $250 upgrade and they only charged me $79 for the Flashing LHC upgrade (replacing the wheels with clear and wiring and putting in the blue LEDs which I asked for specifically). There was other labor including the custom work on the pot and replacing the panel LFO and overload LEDs, etc. All in all (including shipping) with a full recalibration, it came to just shy of $600; worth every penny in my book.
There are tolerances in resistors and the incoming voltage that is not absolute. I think that if the VOS wants > 1V per active then you’re stuffed. If < 1V per octave, you can always attenuate. I’ve been successful by MULT’ing Pitch CV and a fixed voltage sent by attenuated mod wheel of my LP (I have the CV out option) to overcome this in the past but now that it’s a pot and has been tuned by Moog when they calibrated everything, I won’t have any issues or need to succumb to that craziness.
There was one mod that they could not easily do, which was to install a performance gooseneck lap with the right hand pot for dimmer; something about a requirement for a half moon shaped hole on the back panel to accommodate the factory BNC connector. I’m going to try and rig something up myself but will use an external 12V DC power supply so that I do not infringe upon my Old School’s circuitry (dimmers are sometimes intrusive). I’m in no rush, just enjoying playing right now but if I work it out, I’ll post pics.
