Hey all. One of the keys on my Voyager has a slight squeaky noise. Should I be concerned? Is there something I can do? It isn’t too big of a deal as long it doesn’t lead to something worse…just a little annoying.
Oil?
I have a Voyager Old School which has two keys which make a funny noise…its the spring thats doing it…
If I depress them quickly and firmy…they’re ok…but more gently…I can hear the spring make a metallic click (very noticeable). If this is what you’ve got…then i would not be concerned - it wont lead onto anything bad.
Its a fact of life, nothing can be perfect. If you really cant live with it…then contact a reputable repair tech to take a look - there is always a risk your voyager may take a few knocks/scrapes…so is it worth it?
Sometimes mechanical ‘issues’ rectify themselves with continued use. All the keys on my Old School played perfectly at first…then two of them developed the same ‘click’. It may go away one day…

Thanks Screams. I was just looking for some insight of what causes it and if I should be concerned. I know things aren’t always perfect.
Actually, while I was playing last night, the key wasn’t squeaking. So maybe it worked itself out, or maybe it had to do with the room environment/temperature. Now that I know a little more of what may be causing it, I am less concerned. If the key happens to break one day, I will just get it fixed.
No, please never use oil - most of these parts are plastic stuff. I remember Steve said a felt strip behind the springs can fix these noises.
Have fun,
Rudi
All my LP keys at one point squeaked. Now only the highest C squeaks, and that’s because I rarely use it.
