[SPH] Sub Phatty firmware feedback needed

Hi all !

We plan to release the new Sub Phatty firmware next week, and it’s highly important for us to make sure it’s perfectly stable.

There’s currently one bug which we would like to fix. We will do that next week and then post a release candidate for final approval.
This firmware version will be used internally, for the production of Sub Phatty. Main things to look for at this moment are stability, Midi, CC and DAW integration issues.

For any of you who haven’t installed v2.1.8 yet, it should be safe to update - as long as the unit’s serial number is higher than #2892, or already running 2.x. If it’s #2892 and lower, and the current firmware version is 1.x, do not install this beta, as it requires updating bootloader. To check for your Sub Phatty’s firmware version, load Sub Phatty Editor and look for it under PREF page.

Hi Gil,

I ran the Sub Phatty through my normal paces and did not come across anything. Tried the following:
• Tested some known presets and all sounded accurate
• Built a sound from a blank patch and everything tracked normally and responded correctly
• In Ableton Live 9.6, I both recorded and drew in MIDI automations (CCs 19 & 21) with no issues
• Tracked the LFO to the MIDI clock
• I generally messed with all the knobs and some different envelope settings, all felt normal
• I tried a couple shift mode hidden features and they also worked correctly
If there is anything specific to try, let me know.

Best, Michael

Thanks, keep us updated.

HI all,
Limited testing performed due to issues with the Editor (see my other post)

My comments/observations:

Before update, I was on version 2.0.5 Firmware

Before I updated, I had a simple active panel patch. After updating, the path sounded exactly the same, as expected.

Just a general impression, but it seems I am having less ‘Release Time’ glitches when playing via Local keys than I used to experience.

When I automated the filter cutoff via the Editor, it all seems to work perfectly. Haven’t tested multiple parameters at the same time.

I did not experience a ‘Disconnection’ event at any time AFTER update (I did before update, on the old version that same day). Only was running for a hour or two, though..

I will push things around a bit more when i next get some free time, let you known if I find anything.

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks for the feedback !

I get the same problem as always, the moog freezes up leaving notes just hanging when using the librarian in the editor.

We need more information. What firmware version are you using ? Is that in OSX or Windows, and if in Windows - do you have the new driver installed ?
