Today I noticed that my Slim was little high on lower notes, so I decided that it deeded calibration.
So I ran the Note, PW Amount and Osc 2 calibration.
When it was over I was exited.
But not for long.
i started to play my presets and everything was strange. Pitch was better, but the phasing between the oscillators was totally different, in a very bad way. On some notes you could hear harmonics of perfect fifth more than fundamental and charm of my beloved synth was gone. The PW Mod is now much more accurate but I don’t care.
It is not the first time. It happened one year ago. but I wasn’t sure what went wrong.
Do I have to wait one year for my puppy to get back his nasty fat ass charm which is the reason I love this synth so much?
No, I think you’d better readjust your presets within, say, a couple of weeks, and run the calibration as soon as you feel they don’t sound like before. This way, the surprise will be good every time, and your preset steady, while the change to less-good-sounding will be progressive.

yes this means you programmed your presets to sound “right” to you when the synth was less calibrated. Go into Precision Mode and adjust the osc2 frequency til you’re happy wih the sound again, then re-save your presets.
I’m not sure if it is just the Osc tune. Or it is so psychologically complicated ???
Amos, is there anything else going on when you do the calibration?
I have filling that there is something else.

there is one more thing: the “scaling” and keyboard tracking is also calibrated. it’s possible that some of your character was coming from these things being out of calibration, but it’s my experience that you can have perfect scaling and kb tracking and still very interesting funky sound textures, just by setting the oscillator 2 frequency to your liking.
Ok, I know what I did wrong.
firstly, I should keep Slim on for more than 20 minutes before doing the calibration.
Secondly, I had open window in my room and the temperature was not stable.
So I did around 4 calibrations yesterday on note, PW and osc2 when temperature was stable.
I think that helped allot.
It’s still not the same, but I will get used to sooner or later.
