Source Question

i’m still sort of getting used to my moog source and i really like how when i roll the pitch wheel and the 2 osc’s are synced it creates that frequency squeal sound.

my question is:
is there a way to get that to happen without actually moving the wheel by hand? in a sweeping-filter sort of way? am i outta my mind?

:slight_smile:

Nope, 'twas done with the wheel and only the wheel.

Sync really screams on the Source :sunglasses:

Sounds as if the Source is like an ARP Odyssey with Moog Oscillators and a flat front panel. :stuck_out_tongue:

I finally got my voyager to do the same wheel sync screams as my source but can’t remeber how i did it. will look at the patch again and report back

Couldn’t you do it with your fingers on the X/Y touch surface? I have. And, it sounds great!

I have another question about the limitations of my Moog Source.

I want to create a patch where the pitch drops or rises after a certain amount of time. I’m talking OTHER than ‘gliding’ to another note. And I want it to do it each time a key is pressed. Is something like this possible? If so, is there a way to set the distance it travels and rate too?

Nope,

I can’t think of anyway that you can do this on a Source unless you use Filter Resonance as an oscillator. Then have it respond to the ADSR envelope on the filter.

It is a great little synth (I love mine) but it does not have that versitile of a structure to do what you are looking to do.

LOL! Yeah, you sure about that thewaag? Why not think about it over some online poker?

So,

If a King is a Minimoog, and the Queen is the Source, then what is the Ace? The Voyager?? Would love to have a full house of Moogs!!!

after nearly 2.5 decades without a mini D I am about to deal myself a full house. 8) , and for shnitz and giggles will add a Virus C as well..

I got a straight flush.

model D, source, voyager, taurus I, memorymoog :sunglasses:

A ROYAL flush would have to include a moog modular :open_mouth:

So Derek42,

You do seem a bit confused. I believe you were thinking of Casio’s.

You must remember that this forum is for Mooger’s only.

Now if you don’t mind i’d like to get back to some internet gamling!

Syntesizer playing cards:
Spades = Moogs
Hearts = Rolands
Clubs = Korgs
Diamonds = Sequential Circuits
Jokers = Casios

I would agree that the Casio is the Joker.

I own a Voyager AE, Waldorf Q, Roland Juno 106, Siel DK 600, Nord Electro and an Ensoniq MR.

But the only sampler i own among this mighty group is a Casio SK-5! Hehe, all 1.5 seconds of it.

I like Casios, but in a different way than other synths. They are easy to get, fun to play, and darn cute. Some of thier stuff isn’t half bad.

so getting back on topic here…

i just read a blurb from a guy selling a source on ebay. he writes:

“The filter is the patented Moog ladder filter which can be overdriven when oscs are set to full volume, just like the Mini!”

i didnt know about this… i have most of my presets osc’s set at full volume. i wonder at what value it starts to overdrive? (1-99)

I’ve owned a Source since 1985, and to my ears I can hear distortion creeping in after “50”. Very noticeable with dual sweeping VCOs.

oh i should turn the damn thing down and see if i get some prettier tones. haha
