I’m new here, so if this is in the wrong forum, I appologize. My only purpose is to share a song that uses the minimoog.
This song was originally done around 1980 when I got my first Minimoog-I
owned a Moog Sonic 6 at the time, but it had become unstable-like it’s user,
and I was forced to buy a Minimoog for ‘backup’.
This song was written exclusively for the mini and was first recorded using
multiple cassette players-dubbed back and forth countless times until the
amount of added noise was unbearable. The passing of Robert Moog had inspired me to re-record this song again.
With this remake, no midi sequencing was used with the exception of a few
drum samples triggered by the DR-008.
You are my new hero. Great song! (as are the others). Reminds me of another, ‘faster’ Larry. lol.
Since I believe in compensation (or a close proximity thereof), I have to ask if you have any CD’s or anything for purchase – before I start downloading the ones on soundclick, that is!
The song used 43 tracks-10 of which were moogs
Recorded using Sonar 2.2XL with Windows98SE
AMD 1800…(not the most potent set-up, but since I do most of my playing ‘live’, I basically used the computer like a huge tape deck…and…If it ain’t broke-don’t fix it
I used some EQ, compression, delay, etc on individual tracks.
The final mix was imported into Wave Lab and I used Waves plugs-some EQ, Multiband compression, and the L2 at the very end.
your sonic symphony sounds very great! that’s really moog sound at its best!
What a pity that Bob Moog himself cannot hear that fine peace of music anymore!
I’m really blown away and looking forward to your CD to hear more of it in even better quality. (I think that the mp3-codec can’t handle the full and rich moog sound of your complex arrangement adequately.)
43 tracks, man, sounds like a lot of work! (and I know what I’m speaking of, being myself an audio engineer!)
fantastic, I as well eagerly await your cd. I have to try to emulate that lead sound on my Voyager as previously stated impressive to say the least, sounds like early Genesis was a major influence on your musical style.
Thanks.
Actually I own two Genesis albums-Lamb Lies Down and Trick Of The Tail.
I was actually trained in jazz/improv and my early influences were Chick, Oscar,McCoy Tyner…
One of my favorite keyboard players is Dave Stewart(Egg,Hatfield In The North, Bruford)
For future reference, those who post their music online may wish to try Vorbis (also Ogg Vorbis) format. It has a smaller file size than mp3 and a considerably better audio quality. Its patent free and open source.
There are an increasing number of players that will handle the format including Winamp, Audacity, and others.
