Software CV sequencers and breakout-in box

I realize these questions may sound silly, stupid or just downright dreamy to some of you more experienced synthesists who work with a computer:

I have a Roland CSQ-600 sequencer but I’m thinking about getting a software sequencer or at least a controller and try to creat sequences with it, hoping there would be greater flexibility, memory, and abilities.

Has anyone on this forum had experience using a CSQ-600, and if so, have you moved to a software sequencer, and how did you get the CV converted for use in the Soft-seqencer or Digital recording software? Was it converted to MIDI info first? Can a standard Presonus Firepod be used for CV voltages in and out?

Please feel free to extoll on your experiences and opinions regarding this. Thank you.

I use Ableton Live to sequence. The midi goes to my Doepfer MCV24 andthen to the Foogers.

I also just bought the Silent Way plugins and plan to use my MOTU soundcards to create CV as well.
