My 49 key keyboard MIDI controller, unlike my 25 key controller, has no round MIDI ports, but rather only USB. Does the Slim Phatty need a midi port? Also, if not, would a 25 key controller be satisfactory for most uses of this mono synth, or only for bass lines? I’ve been trying to make up my mind whether to get a Slim Phatty or the Little Phatty Stage II, a lot depends upon if I need to buy another controller. I also have a korg microkey, I noticed someone posted a picture of it with the Slim Phatty. This really works, or needs a computer and a DAW or something in between?
USB only controllers are designed mainly for use with a computer. To use them as a stand alone with a hardware instrument you need to use a USB host. The phatty will not supply power to the keyboard.
