Slim Phatty Midi In (DIN) problems

Hello,

experiencing HUGE problems with the Midi In (DIN) on my Slim Phatty.
I am sure this is a common problem since I’ve been reading the forum but I can’t find a solution.

I am on system 3.12 680 and I believe this is the newest system !?

I hear talk about a system or MIDI update that isn’t available for MAC users yet but it’s been out for a year or so for PC users?
That seems strange to me to be honest…and should be solved.

However, using the Slim Phatty with the Midi In is causing hung notes or crashes.

Switching the device on and off doesn’t solve the problem either if the Midi cable is still attached to the SP, this results just in the SP not doing anything after switching it back on.
Sometimes it works if I am switching the SP off, then taking the Midi cable out, then switching the SP back on and then put the DIN cable back in, sometimes it just deosn’t.

The crashes seem to occur more often than the hung notes, but hung notes also result in me having the device switch off and on again, which, in some cases, causes the SP to do nothing because the MIDI cable is / was still in when powering back on… ARGHHHH! You cannot believe how much I start hating the SP at this moment and I am curious if other users experiencing the exact same problems…

The problems appears if I am either having the Octatrack attached to it or my QY700 sequencer. (I am trying to be computer free).
But also, this happens if I am using a computer with MIDI through my RME soundcard and LOGIC.

Using THIS (it might just be my device) SP in a live setup is IMPOSSIBLE!

If someone has a cure for my SP, please let me know…

Thanks.

I am experiencing the same problem.

I updated (downdated) the firmware to an old version, which semi-solved the problem. Now the crashes don’t occur. The hanging notes do happen, but only for a short while, and seem to be “overwritten” by notes you play afterwards.

I also have a Little Phatty. I haven’t experienced these type of problems on that machine.

Pretty annoying!

Just curious. Does it still occur if you not sending clock, just sending note and CC info?

Also, contact Moog support. The more people that report it officially, the more serious they’ll treat it.

I sent a message to support. I think only they can solve this problem but as a lot of users seem to have this behaviour, I really hope Moog is doing something.
Otherwise I have to say the Slim Phatty is unuseful and a waste of money. Seriously..

Hi,

I have same issue with Slim Phatty and Pro Tools 8.0 LE with an 002…
I can play it with a keyboard controller no issue… But trying to play back out
of PT does exactly what you are describing… I posted a while back but have got no responses…
So today I sent a message to support… I am using a Mac also and so the “patch” is of no use to me…
I had heard about faulty USB midi boards and swapping for replacement solved someone else’s problem…
I see your post is older… Has anyone come to any definitive conclusion? The Slim Phatty is of no use to me
without the Midi capability… ARRRRGGGGG!!!
