Slim Phatty boot issue/can't update firmware - help!

Hey,

Recently my slim phatty (purchased new in 2011) has turned into a brick - oh dear!

I turned it on, and it now gives me the following message:

Slim Phatty Boot v1.1
Checksum Failure
Erasing Flash…
Check for USB Module
Please send firmware

I can’t do anything with the synth after this. sometimes only a few of the lights on the left hand side come light up, other times all of them come on whilst it’s at the ‘please send firmware’ stage.

I’ve been trying to do what it’s asking by updating the firmware using midi via a saffire pro 40 interface to no avail. The phatty also does not now register as a usb device, but when I try to update the firmware via midi it just says downloading on the software, and on the little phatty screen ‘please send firmware’ doesn’t change. I’ve tried using every combination of packet size and timing combination in the phattyloader software (both 3.03 and 3.12).

I found a video on ebay which mentions a usb debugger and found a place to purchase one of these in the UK, i’d like to know if it’s worth me purchasing or should I take this to a service centre here in the uk. Is it a problem the usb debugger can’t fix considering the phatty isn’t showing up as a usb device in the phattyloader software?

I purchased the synth in the states, still have the receipt - as I now live in the uk i’m worried that this is going to cost a lot of money to fix.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as right now I have a rather expensive doorstop in my studio :open_mouth:

maybe someone from moog could help with this?
