Now that folks have heard the synth, Would the voice quality alone be worth the basis of a monophonic Moog One?
I know, I know… after all this time waiting for a poly - why angst about mono? Just curious… having grown up with the studio polys of the 70’s and 80’s, and then a long sparse string of mono’s before polys became popular again, yeah I wonder
The voice board is not the most expensive part of a synth. The panel of the Moog One is quite expensive to produce with all the knobs. So a monophonic synth with the same UI would cost way to much.
A simple theory…
if all the parts in both models are unique and there would be voice cards
in 16 slots, and the 8 slots in the 8 voice MO are empty…
Let´s calculate the street price in Germany:
A 16 voice MO actually costs 8.699 €
The 8 voice MO actually costs 6.699 €.
That means, that 8 voices costs 2000.- € (250 € each voice).
A MO without voices costs - by that calculation, 4.699 €.
Add one Voice, so the price could be 4.949 € for a one voice MO.
If this would be real, would pay the price for a MO one voice model?
It’s not that simple.
Just one point that makes it different: the Eur4699 cover R&D for The One but R&D for the “Son of the one” would be much lighter, hence cheaper.
