Set up LP to receive MIDI clock in Cubase 5

Hello Moogers,

I’ve been a synth player for quite a bit of years now, but just recently I decided to explore MIDI (I have been using synths before that did not have this feature, so I have never needed to explore it). I have scoured countless forums only to come up with “list us everything you have in your set up, including what kind of chair you are sitting and and the type of food you feed your dog” responses and a vague description of what needs to be done. Or, how to set it up in Ableton. Which, I have been using Neuendo/Cubase for 10 years now and really don’t want to unlearn all that I have learned, Yoda.

Ok, so, here’s what I have:

1 Moog Little Phatty
1 Windows Computer
1 Cubase 5.0.1
2 Midi cables
1 USB Cable

What I want to do:

Sync the LP to Cubase 5’s MIDI Clock so the ARP and LFO will be in sync with Cubase’s tempo.

If someone has this set up and/or knows how to get it all to jive, please let me know. I have tried so many different solutions found on forums to no avail.

And yes, I have RTFM. It just left me even more confused.

PLEASE HELP!!

You have to make sure your Phatty is using external midi-clock: CLK SRC: MIDI

You also have to make sure Cubase is sending midi-clock to the right midi output. In Cubase 4 you’ll find it here:
Transport → Project Syncronization Setup → MIDI Clock Destinations
