serial minimoog problem

hallo,
i have a rather unnice problem.
i bought , in good trust, a minimoog model-d. when i came home from a long trip to germany , i found out that there’s no serial anymore on the back ! ( strip broke off and disappeared)
from the model it looks like it is a number 2000 something 'bout.
i opened the mini, removed the backplate to hope and find some clues.

all i found sofar is on the boards the numbers:
powersupply 7385A
filterboard 2258
oscillatorboard 2351

can anybody give me an idea if moog left some traceble numbers or the serial somewhere else in/on the machine other than only on the back. or how to clear this up !

( the guy who sold it says he had for more that 20 years and it also looked like that , so dirty )
afcourse i should have looked before buying , but i didn’t expect it and am not so interested in the serial as such, well that’s to say until now unfortunately.
any help greatly appreciated.

On my 1979 Minimoog there is a serial number on the back of the housing where the sockets are. Another place to see the serial number is the lower bottom of the housing where the quality check label is. And I have another sticker of the quality control inside the housing.

no serial anymore aside of the sockets ( broken off)
no qualitysticker anymore underneat/ on the bottom of the housing
couldn’t find any other marks when opening the housing yesterday.

guess that’s it then?
bought him from a guy in germany

all info welcome

Early Minis didn’t get the same tags later ones did.
But these Minis usually had serialized boards around the same number as the main chassis.
So your Mini probably is around the numbers above: 2200ish.
It may not be possible to know the exact number.

You might consider asking the seller for more info.
He may have written it down himself or taken a photo of the back before the strip was damaged.

I think the condition of the Mini is more important than the serial is, personally.

Good luck!

thanks,
i also thought of about 2000something regarding the woodworkshape and details
i’m afraid someone removed the serial , and that’s not a nice idea, even if that happened a long time ago.
last things i heard from the seller is that lots of people wait for their goods so..

regarding the condition: it’s the best nicest playing mini i’ve ever touched. it’s a tool.

My mini is missing the serial too. But it was owned by the same owner over the years. The strip is still there, only where it says serial number, there is what looks like part of a 1, then it looks like the number was worn off. The Osc. board is 1313 or something like that.. Filter board is something else nearby.. The mini is a Musonics. Anyway, the factory quality stickers are in there but there are no serial numbers, only initials and dates.

Basically what I’m saying is that maybe the earlier serials came off easily. I definitely wouldn’t assume any foul play just because there’s no serial on the outside.

thank you, it helped a lot, it’s a nice mini really worth playing and indeed it’s just a strip broken off.
i also own a 3400 type, think the 2000 types are more slik , the 3000 a bit more stuborn. the 2000 plays so easily, espec the keyboard . also the tuning seems to be more stable, and the sound even a bit bigger.
definitively prefer the one without the serial !
thanks for all tips already
