Does anyone one here know where I can get a cheap sequencer? What I want to do is have it plugged into the sweep in on my phaser so I can set up stepped patterns. I saw a video on you tube of a very simple looking box with a speed knob and a couple ohter knobs that I assume chnage the voltage for each step.
The DOTCOM is a Moog 960 clone but its like 800 bucks. THen youd have to have a power supply and a rack frame and it would take up 5 rack spaces.
Thats not exactly cheap but its sweet.
THeres also a do it ourself sequencer thats about the same size as that but its an advanced project and I heard it only cists about 100.

This might be the one.
The Future-Retro Mobius might be about the cheapest you can find that offers both CV/Gate and MIDI outputs. You can buy one new ($399) from Nova Musik, or maybe score that one on eBay for less.
The Mobius is a rack-mount sequencer with 256 programmable 16-step patterns. Sequences are programmed using MIDI note number equivalents for each step, and all sequences can be transposed in half-steps up to 3 octaves. Tempo goes from 20 to 250 BPM.
A sequence can be up to 16 steps in length, and any any step can be enabled/disabled at the push of a button. The Mobius works great with a Voyager or Moogerfooger pedal (CV/Gate), but also very useful with other MIDI gear. It’s really a great bit of kit.
Electronicvibes posted a basic video of it on YouTube:
I dont really need all of that. Im just looking for something sipmple like in that you tube video I posted. All my stuff is on a pedal board so the whole rack thing wouldn’t work out for me.
do you want to be able to control the steps, or would a sample-and-hold kind of thing work? kind of like this? I’m using the S&H on the CP-251 to control the frequency of the filter - it’s totally random though - you can’t control the steps. you could also use it to control the phaser.
There is also the MFB Step-64, $325 at Analog Haven. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hALFTN9qf0&feature=related
Haven’t tried it myself, nor the Mobius either. Eventually I would like to have one of the two.
My buddy builds pedals and he made a really cool squencer, im not sure if hes mass producing it tho you can contact him here → http://www.myspace.com/waywas his name is brian
