i just bought another keyboard, and i was curious if it is possible to make the moog send the arp notes out of the midi out, and play them on a different keyboard. i can get the moog to play the other keyboard, but the arp doesnt work. am i missing something obvious? or does it just not do this?
I haven’t checked the manual in a while, but I think the arp doesn’t send midi.
Certainly can. In the ARP menu, there is an option for “SEND MIDI:” (not to be confused with the ability to send clock) and the two settings for this parameter can be either “ARP” or “KEYS”.
I still have beta code in my Tribute so I’m not sure where this feature ended up. At the time, I was trying to sell Amos on the idea of using the ARP to send a sequence to an external device, then the user can disconnect the keyboard from controlling the ARP and instead play the local Phatty exclusively. Again, not sure where this ended up and I likely won’t upgrade for the foreseeable future because I’m happy with every aspect of the current build.
Incidentally, I have the CV out mod, and the ARP drives CV Freq out also (regardless of the setting).
i will do some hunting tomorrow and see if i can find this setting.
is it possible to send a arppegio to the moog into the midi in, and play the moog, and also send the notes out of the midi out, and play another keyboard? i cant get this to work for the life of me. im running a software step sequencer on my laptop, into the moog, and its playing the moog, but it wont play the external keyboard. when i hit the keys on the moog it will, but it wont play what is being sent into the midi in. is this even possible?
