Sampling through a Moog

Hey, Just a very quick question that is probably obvious but I can’t seem to find a definitive answer anywhere.

I’ve currently got an Akai MPC2500 that I use to sample; I then play the samples through an effects processor and resample them back into the MPC using 1/4 inch jacks. I’m interested in buying a Slim Phatty or a Minitaur to use in a similar way as my effects processor, playing the sample through the Moog, applying Low/High Pass filters and using the Moog to change the whole sound of the sample; then running the sounds back into my MPC via 1/4 inch jacks and re-sampling. Is this possible?

Obviously I’d also use the MPC’s MIDI sequencer to create patterns to synthesize too but being able to run an audio signal through the Moog too would be important to me for changing the sample, and then being able to play that signal back out through my MPC.

Any Moog with an audio in can do that. The audio in allows you to use the filter (and I believe the env. gen.) to shape the sound of an external source.

You can browse the user manuals for Moog products on their website to be sure the external audio input will allow you to make the sounds you want with the synth or pedal you choose.

Cheers guys for clearing that up and I’ll take the advice to search for user manuals too before buying. I think I just needed someone to confirm to me what I already thought before forking out loads of money on a Moog. I’ve bought a couple of peices of cheaper equipment recently that aren’t very compatible and so got a little jittery.

Thanks again

Sure but if all you want is a filter to run stuff through, there are definitely cheaper/smaller options for a standalone filter module.
