Forgive me moderators I know this is off topic but…has anyone ever tried or seen one of those weird Russian synths that pop up on ebay? They look so wild with all the russian alphabet characters on them (the backwards R, the “O” with a line through it). I just think they are kind of neat and wondered if anybody has ever experienced one in real life.
The Czech Antares (no relation to the Cher-warbling Auto-tune people!) and Russian Altair are probably the closest moog rip-offs, even down to the panel architecture.

Hi!
I own a Polivoks that I bought from a very nice guy in Estonia. He took a ferry from Estonia to Stockholm/Sweden and personally delivered it to me.
It is in near mint condition.
The Polivoks sounds great, everything from hard and harsh to soft, warm and mellow. I made a little demo song featuring only the Polivoks. The song is a bit off tune since I didn’t tune the sizer that often when I recorded the song.
I can really recommend a Polivoks… it isn’t as unstable as people say.

I must have missed your demo the first time round; it’s a great piece - really well recorded and produced. Also a good advert for this obscure machine. Well done!
Wow, that polivoks sounds great. Thats the brand I occasionally see on ebay. they always look really solid but I wondered how they sounded. Now I know, thanks Demonkid!
Thanx guys! I’m glad to be of help. The Polivoks is a cool sizer that not only sounds great but looks great. It is really fun to try to compose a song using only one sizer, try it!

I downloaded that demo, it’s awesome
I saw a Polivoks on ebay recently, wasn’t sure what to think about it. If I had the expendable income, I would have bought it just for the oddity factor.

It’s a myth that Cher used Antare’s autotuner and the result was the infamous warble. She certainly may have used an autotuner (I wouldn’t be shocked, would you?), but the warble was purposely created using other devices.
She sure can’t sing like that, that’s for certain!

I just got a Polivoks myself. I’m still waiting to use it, though. Didn’t come with a voltage comverter or 1/4 inch to DIN cable, so I’m waiting for those to arrive.
