Rip off price in the UK (again)

Turnkey are taking orders at £899.99. At today’s exchange rate that equates to $1560!

Are they hand carrying them over here?

Order from Ashville if you are from the states.

I’m in the UK.

The cost of shipping an individual unit would defeat the purpose, but I don’t understand why we pay over the odds when distributors can order dozens at a time. Maybe that’s a naive statement but I’ve yet to hear a plausible explanation.

on another note - will this synthesizer bring up the same trouble in regards to trademark issues in the UK? is there a moog logo or nameplate that will need to be removed etc? will there be long waiting times for delivery because of that?

the price in the uk for the voyager was already meshugge…

At least its less than £1000. I doubt it will be Moog branded though if you’re getting it from Turnkey.

Moog says the tribute will ship at the end of May. A second edition, the “Stage,” will have plastic sides and a different color scheme to the LEDs. The best part is that Moog is hoping to get the price down to much closer to a street price of US$1,000.

Import one from the States, it’s easier than you think, and will still cost less than you can get it from Turnkey. Oh, and yes, there is an issue with the Moog logo - it won’t be there if you buy it in the UK, because of a certain tosser, called Alex Winter.

I shall be doing so.

Who do you email at Moog to get a quote inc. shipping? I’ve used the contact form but I’m wondering if there’s a direct email address?

anybody had a quote yet to the UK?

When you say no logo in the UK, would that be the small logo above the keys or more than that?

I’d obviously have to play it first, but Im sorry that amount of money is just to much and I probably can’t say this here but right now im more likely to buy a Dave Smith monophonic keyboard at Turnkey. I know, shoot me.

Everything including the startup screen, circuit boards and the manual.

urgh, yes, the manual has to be edited for voyager sale in the uk, too. that’s right. my uk voyager manual has black bars all over it like it’s porn or something. yuk. i’d order in the us next time.

:imp:

It’s true, the world has gone mad…

According to XE today

$1,475.00 USD United States Dollars = $1,724.44 CADCanada Dollars

I’ve just been told the CDN Retail is $2399

A mere $700 dollars differance.
Maybe I’ll fly return to North Carolina & get drunk with the change!

Good idea! Have one for me while your about it.

OK, I’ve now had a quote from Nova Musik which is around $60 cheaper inc. shipping than the UK list price! BUT: There will be customs charges to go on top. Has anyone in the UK ordered synths Stateside and can advise roughly how much the Customs bit will be? Is there a website I can check on?

Don’t quote me on this, but I think you have to pay 17.5% of the price for VAT, and there are even more charges on top. They take all our fucking money either way and waste it!

I ordered my maple AE from the States and still paid less than I would have done if I’d ordered a standard AE from Turnkey (minus Moog logos). The process was simple and I had no problems at all. Highly recommended.

That’s not summer.

I got a quote for the Australian connection:

Pricing will be $2399 including GST and shipping.
You conversion is aabout correct, not including GST.

We have been confirmed 10 special edition units to Australia.
We are now taking official orders, with a 50% deposit required.

It is a good price - after paying customs and all that I couldn’t get it
for that price easily.
