Ringmod carrier in and out

Can anyone explain in detail the uses of the carrier input and output sockets on the ringmod…Can they be used in conjunction with the phaser or phatty in anyway

Well they are both fantastic and very useful. The IN remove the carrier oscillator and replaces it with what ever is in its place. This could be a drum machine, another synth, a tape player or radio, but it make amazing complex ringmod sounds. My favorite is run my micromoog on auto s&h so its doing its own thing triggering filters and stepping through pitch changes and play guitar thru the regular audio in with the mix at about 4.
Now the carrier out, that is a great tool with the phaser. Plug that into the phasers sweep in jack (not the sweep jack on top, you gotta get the one at the bottom…that’s the one) set the phase to 12 stage and send audio out to one amp or mixer chanel and aux out to another amp or mixer chanel (if using a mixer wear headphones and pan hard left and right and get ready to freak out!) this will use the phasers lfo on 6 of the stages and the ringmods carrier (or the lfo works great too. SQUARE WAVE) on the other 6 stages. If you use the ring mod on low freq you get a sine lfo if you use it on high you get fm phaser. And you can use the ringmods lfo to modulate the freq of the carrier out too. Now start tweaking and get your mind blown!
For more fun tricks check out the knobtweak forum and look up lord of the ringmod. There is a TON more stuff you can do with the ringmod.

This sounds great. You should put it on Knobtweak.

Thanks for the replies so far…
Good news is i have the phaser , so i will try it out…

ColorForm2113: A very cool Moogerfooger implementation! Your idea of using the RM’s Carrier Oscillator to modulate the Phaser SWEEP IN jack is very intriguing - an audio-rate modulation freak out! I’ll have to try that!

or my favorite, another guitar or the same guitar though a split audio signal to get an octave effect :open_mouth:

Yeah, that was the first thing I did when I got my phaser, which I got after my Ring Mod. Very cool effects to be had with that setup, though using the LFO from the CP-251 in conjunction with that setup, going into the Little Phatty’s Pitch CV in is pure gold. Perhaps I can include that in my next video?

Yeah my new laptop has a webcam in it so ill have to try and make some demos
