Reverb unit problem

If I plug the LP (or LP through Moogerfooger Phaser) directly into the Lexicon MX200 reverb unit (mono/stereo/y-cable split - doesn’t matter) I get this noise (it’s not a goundloop hum, it’s more of a high frequency buzz. What I do at the moment is plug the LP into my studio mixer and then use AUX send/return on the mixer and it works ok, but I don’t want to carry my mixer around whenever I want to play my LP.

Is the mixer AUX send any different then the LP audio out? (then again, why should it be?)

Any ideas (Di-Box?)

The mixer is going alter with the signal some, but I can’t say what it’s doing and it shouldn’t be that noticable. Unless the mixer already has some sort of low pass filter in it?

For what it’s worth, I used to have my LP going into a MX 300 and didn’t detect this. Yours may be different though. With that unit you don’t need a splitter because you just send it in the mono L jack and it comes out stereo-ified.

I think I’ve identified the problem, but still no solution.

When I plug an “empty” cable into the MX200 i get the buzz only if it’s a mono cable, the stereo cable even empty doesn’t cause the buzz. Following that trail I’ve tried to short circut the parts of the stereo plug on the empty end. The buzz occurs when I short the TIP and the SLEVE. So I guess the MX200 inputs are to shallow and the SLEVE (which is longer in a mono plug) shorts with the tip when using the mono plug, while this doesn’t happen with the stereo cable cause the RING keeps TIP and SLEVE isolated (I everyone with me at this point?). Why doesn’t this happen when I plug things into the mixer? I’ll have to do more research. (yes, I’ve used different cables)

more data

if I plug the (buzzy) mono cable into the mixer send or a digital recorder output the buzz goes away (but only if the mixer is powered on), but if I plug it into the lp the buzz stays (also the buzz appears if I use a stereo cable which didn’t cause the buzz when not connected - which would be logical as the LP output is mono and probably shorts things in the stereo plugas if it was a mono cable). If I connect the LP to the recorder input and the output to the MX200 there is no buzz. So maybe the di-box would separate things in a way I need (although there is no balanced connections involved in either the LP or the MX200).

If anyone read through the whole puzzle please try to provide a sollution
