I was playing my moog prodigy on the streets of Toronto last Saturday and a power surge came and then nothing. Cant get it to turn back on.
Should I…
a) pay to get it fixed even though its obviously some major power issue.
b) buy another used moog prodigy.
If you want hear some of the music this moog made, download the free ep at http://www.dustybrown.com
Thanks,
Dusty
Sorry to hear. Is there a smell of burnt electronics ? have you tried it on a known working outlet since ? If you’re lucky there is a fuse that has blown. Could also be parts of the power supply went. Or it could have taken everything with it ( hope not). It depends, repairs could go as high as a new used one. If so, track down another or consider a Little Phatty.
Good luck
It was a fuse! omg. $3 fix is so much better than a service fee. My cousin suggested i open it up and sure enough the fuse was busted.
Thanks for the reply.
Dusty
Good to hear. You’re welcome. Your Cousin and I can split the fee for service
.
Good that Murphy was wrong on this one and more exspensive part did not blow first to protect a 25 cent fuse
.
The blown fuse is the secret friend of all vintage synth users.
I don’t know how many synths I’ve bought for extremely low prices because of it, and I don’t know how many times I have had your experience only to discover that something so simple and easily-fixable was the problem.
Bless the blown fuse. : )
