Hello everyone, I lost my Theremini’s power supply when I moved and it looks like it’s impossible to buy a new original moog one. I tried to buy something online but it doesn’t work properly - impossible to hold a clear note, it’s noisy. It’s a plug directly connected from the wall to the device instead of the 2 part power supply with a box in the middle. Is there a way to replace the power supply with something better? Thanks
Hiya did you find a solution to this? I am having the same problem!
Sorry to hear of your problem, I attach a photo of the back of the power supply that I was sent with my Theremini here in Australia, I replaced the power cord, as I was supplied with an American power plug. Hope this helps.
@amasdehousses @mosiamo I found a source that claims to have them new and in stock! https://www.adapter-plaza.com/brand-new-fj-sw20181202000-12v-2a-ac-dc-adapthe-power-supply-p-11172.html
Walmart also lists used ones in stock Pre-Owned Shenzhen FJ-SW20181202000 Power Supply 12V 2A Switching Adapter 5.5x2.5 - Walmart.com as does eBay.
The noise you describe sounds a lot like the replacement brick simply isn’t clean enough for the sensing side, which is fussier than a normal audio device. Before buying again, check the label on the original for the voltage, current and polarity and match all three exactly, then favour a regulated supply rather than the cheapest unregulated one. If you can, test it with the instrument well away from other adapters and dimmers, since the same wall outlet can add hum that looks like a bad supply. Moog support has been willing to confirm the correct spec for older units if the label is gone.
