Does anyone know if it’s possible to “rent” moog products (specifically the voyager). As a young and energetic fan of Moog, I have always dreamed of performing an instrumental act using a minimoog voyager in my high school talent show. If I had a couple g’s to drop I would get my own minimoog… but I dont. That’s why I was hoping there was somwhere I could rent one. Any info is appreciated. If relevant, I live in the Chicago area.
The big cities - such as Chicago - usually have equipment rental services. Usually they rent out Hammonds, Rhodes, Minimoogs so no telling if they have Voyagers.
Let me know if you have any success with that Andy’s rental, im from chicago as well and would be interested in renting, if its not to expensive. Just to experience playing a mini. There was actually some one selling a model d on craigslist a couple weeks ago and I contemplated calling and asking if I could give him $20 just to play it for an hour lol
K, i emailed a guy at andy’s and this is what he said:
“The Voyager is $100 for the first day of rental. The pricing scales down if you need it longer (i.e., half again the next day, half of that the next) So a week is $200, and a month is $600.
We require a valid major credit card for security deposit. It must be a credit card and cannot be attached to a bank account in any way. The rental must be paid for before it leaves and you can pay cash, credit or debit.”
Hey, if you have the credit card, and the $200 to spare, then go nuts! Live it up for a week, and then you can decide if you want to save your money for one of your own down the road.
Just be sure you go over every inch of it with the guy who is renting it to you, and make a note of every little thing you may find. That way, you don’t end up paying for some preexisting damage that neither of you caught before you left the store. And, if you’re under 18, you’re probably going to need a parent or guardian to sign the rental agreement. They’ll more than likely need to provide the credit card as well.
