Remove the volume antenna?

Is there a way to remove the volume antenna and make the theremin output a constant high volume tone unaffected by proximity?

I use a pedal for volume, and the volume antenna is limiting my possibilities in regards of my setup.
I will gladly open it up and rewire it if thats what it takes. I would need some instructions in that case though..

Any options?

Have you tried to set the volume calibration knob at an extreme value? So that the max volume is reached at few centimeters?

There’s a document floating around (official from Moog) called modding and hotrodding your Etherwave. There’s a mod included (page 9) on how to reverse the volume antenna. That should do it for you. A bit of basic electronics involved, but the procedure is clearly explained.

There’s also a procedure (simpler) on how to control the Etherwave with an external pedal.

Here’s the link : HotRodding the Etherwave

Perfect! Thanks.

See my edit of previous message for an even simpler way to use a pedal. No need to solder anything if you make the small jumper out of female RS232 pin connectors (or equivalent). Old wire wrap technique would also work.

Im seconds away from surgery here…

The instructions tell me to connect VCA OUT to +12V.
VCA OUT is already connected to something else..
Do I remove this connection? Or let it stay while adding the +12V to the party?

edit:
Remove old connection!
