RELEASE VERSION: Sub 37 Editor v1.0.0 (RC3)

Most important change in this version is last used folder location kept for: SAVE AS, Import/Export and Sequence Load/Save.

OSX firmware updater should now run without a problem, so please install and let us know if it works on your systems. It’s very important to verify that on every OSX version. Thanks in advance.

NOTE:

This may NOT be the final version yet. In any case we need to recompile these files, we will send a note and instruct to re-download the version again. Please DO NOT publish these files or provide direct links to them, as it may create a duplication of 1.0.0 versions across the net. The only reason it carries the name 1.0.0 is to make sure we do test what may become the final release.

If no blockers are found, this will be the release version.

Thank you.

Can be now downloaded as a single zip file:

If we already installed the 1.2.0 firmware earlier, is it necessary to install this version of 1.2.0? Or has nothing changed in that respect.

It’s important so we know the firmware updater is still able to run and fully update your Sub 37. The updater has been fixed and recompiled.

Both the latest firmware and software update installed fine for me.

The ‘save as…’ feature works as expected now… saving changes and
folder location.

Thanks guy-- really enjoying!

Hi Guys,

A question:
Why there is a possibility to use Midi to update the Sub 37.
What I know is that this is not working. I am a little confused..

Hi, Gil!
Both the FW updater and standalone Editor installed and/or ran without problems on 10.11.4.

firware updater

  • ran fine
  • quirk: when the sub37 is turned on, the updater recognizes that, and tells us to adjust knobs and turn it off
  • quirk: it will update 1.20 with 1.20

editor

  • installs ok
  • manual is still needy, IMO
  • trash audio / alessandro / peace - is a current preset dump instead of an edit buffer
  • the Editor handles this OK
  • if anyone sends it directly to the hardware, it overwrites their current preset, instead of going into the edit buffer

far distant future

  • can anything be shared between the five different installations? standalone, audio unit, vst, …
  • each one is ~45MB (yeah, GBs are cheap)

Two little things , which might be “by design” :

  • The Moog logo Midi indicator does flash while playing the machine keyboard, but not when the data comes from an external kb controller
  • When on the machine panel mode is selected the editor jobs jump to the right position in the editor. When you select a preset in the editor patch changes correctly and the editor knobs do update. However the synth stays in panel mode (button led on), but of course the physical knob positions don’t reflect the actual sound. To return to the actual panel mode you have to press the preset button and the panel button.

Hans

After installation of the Firmware, the Sub 37 Hardware showed a blank LCD screen. :open_mouth:
On power cycle the Hardware went into the Firmware install mode again (all LEDs lit up, blank screen)

I think I’m a little stressed now. Will report back when it works again…

OK, the Sub 37 is back to blinking normally. I simply had to reload the FW again.

I think it was just about to start phase 2 when you recycled the power.

Let it run to the end this time and it will be ok.

Both are normal. You indeed update your existing 1.2.0 with the same 1.2.0. We only want to make sure the installer still runs as it’s been changed. The firmware is still 1.1.30 (=1.2.0)

The manual is still being edited, it’s still not the final version.

Regarding “peace” I’m not sure what you mean…

Thanks for the feedback !

Thanks Hans, this behavior looks correct to me but I’ll double check that.

Everything installed prefect for me

The new save features are great it allways bugged me they way it use to not go back to were I last saved

Run it all day today with no crashes not that it ever has crashed

Be the best 1.0.0 ever haha

Hi Gil

Thank you for your answer.

No, the installer said that it was finished. Otherwise I wouldn’t have interrupted! Maybe there was a MIDI communication problem during the installation. As mentioned, everything is fine after doing the FW install a second time.

I still have this problem reported in the 0.9.55 thread:

Changing a preset on the Sub 37 hardware is not reflected in the Editor, neither by selecting via the BANK/PRESET nor by selecting via the UP/DOWN buttons. In order to have the Editor show the preset selected on the hardware, I must click CAPTURE HARDWARE and wait a about 3 seconds. Changing presets in the Editor is reflected just fine on the hardware.

  • There is no “disconnected” message in the SETUP page, everything looks just fine
  • Version 1.0.0 (RC3) / FW 1.2.0
  • Happens repeatedly in Standalone mode (I hardly ever used the plugin version)

I don’t you the standalone but for me in the plugin version if I change a preset on the sub37 it reflects perfectly the preset in the editor.

What you see is a bit worrying, as I really haven’t seen that type of problem for quite long now.

Would you try the following:

  • Trash the existing 1.0.0rc3
  • Manually delete the pref files
  • Reinstall 1.0.0rc3

Do you see 1.2.0 as version number in the synth Global menu ?

I assume you are on OSX ?

Problem solved!
I was not aware that the Editor actually needs the Sub 37 to send PGM Change messages and therefore MIDI SETTINGS > PGM CHANGE > SEND must be ON for that to work.

Sorry for the noise. Everything fine. Nothing to see here.

Ah sure, yes, it can be a little confusing. Glad it works for you !

Thanks. On a positive note: Installation of the Editor went fine, and everything looks peachy so far
