Both 3.30.0 and 2.23.0 work with Windows 7, but the older one (v2.23.0) doesn’t require some users to go through a possibly-difficult Windows Update process in order to read the driver signature. The new driver uses a newer security protocol (SHA-2) which wasn’t originally supported for driver installation on Win 7.
Windows 7 users, please:
Uninstall Moog USB Driver, in Control Panel
Under “C:\Windows\System32\Drivers” , Delete files moogusbmidi_x64.sys and moogusbmidiks_x64
Install MoogMusic_MIDI_DriverSetup_v2.23.0.exe and restart
All users should upgrade firmware to latest version.
Fixes in this version:
Fix #529 Preset buttons do not light up
Fix #321 Certain preset cannot be copied to a custom folder although its name is valid
Redraw properly transparent background of Librarian
Fix #531 Send Preset hangs without a net connection
Fix for CV mapping and Per Preset (pack/unpack/checkformat)
Some Protools specifics fix (especially hang due to MIDI input, potential fix for Amos default settings)
Fix dragging error on KeySlider
Release is planned to the end of this week, please use and test it as much as you can and post anything unusual.
Additionally, if I copy and paste the link into a new browser window, and replace the occurrences of “%2f” with a “/”, Firefox posts a warning that the Moogconnect server certificate (CA) is invalid.
Sounds like Moog is having IT problems today
BTW, Gil, any harm in leaving the 3.30.0 USB driver in Windows 7? Mine is working fine.
Ive tried to use the firmware updater but it flashed the eprom but didnt proceed to the next part, now installed says unknown and available 1.1.22 but the updater is now preparing to install but does nothing. Could you advise how to correct this, I do have midiox but not sure how to manually send the code to the sub 37
i found your manual install sheet but midiox says not enough memory despite configuring as suggested.
anyway its stuck at 324 of 768.
if someone can pm me and assist via telephone that would be great
managed to retrive the situation and now at 1.1.22 however the firmware updater does not work in win 10 64 bit it flashes the eeprom then gets stuck
fixed a regression from previous betas; firmware was not updating editor if Init Preset or Panel Mode functions were activated on the Sub 37.
These actions on the hardware (press PANEL for panel mode, or hold PANEL to load Init Preset) now update the state of the Editor to match.
This is intended to be the last change before release, provided nothing else is seriously broken.
Download and installation of the 1.1.22 firmware and Sub37 Editor worked flawlessly !
BTW, I’m using Windows 7-64, the Moog 3.30.0 USB MIDI driver and performed the updates through a USB 3.0 hub ! Que Judas Priest - “Breakin’ the Law, Breakin’ the Law”
I also had problems everytime using MidiOx, it crashes regularly. This tool seems to have a massive timing problem. It’s good to monitor MIDI messages, but not to update firmware and additionally it’s painfully slow.
I highly recommend the Elektron C6 SysEx tool. It is still availlable for free under https://www.elektron.se/support/?connection=accessories
scroll down to “downloads” and choose “C6 SysEx Manager”.
When you start it, make sure your MIDI port is connected (under “configure”).
The use is quite simple:
Choose “Load” and load the four SysEx files, you received with the Moog firmware (subfolder “manual install”, files “sub37 xx.xx step1” to “… step4”)
the files appear in the window of C6, select the first “…step1” file and press “Send” (Sub37 will delete the current firmware)
wait until the display of the Sub37 shows “… ready to receive firmware” (or similar)
in C6 then select the 2nd file “… step2” and press “Send” again (the mainboard of Sub37 will be updated, this takes just a few minutes)
after the update, the Sub will reboot and the display shows a normal state
in C6 select the 3rd file “… step3” and press “Send” again (the panel board will be cleared)
in C6 select the 4th file “… step4” and press “Send” again (the panel will be updated. Be patient. The display shows nothing. This takes a longer time than step2, then the Synth reboots again - your Sub37 is ready)
This procedure takes much less time than with MIDIOx and less time than the Moog updater too. It never crashes here. I’m using WinXP, but I’m sure it works with Win7 or later too.
Hi, sorry for the trouble! I sent you a PM. Please reply or email me (amos at moogmusic dot com) if you are still having difficulty.
Regarding the MIDI-Ox settings, I just checked and the manual install instructions don’t actually recommend the buffer settings I prefer.
I will update the instructions. My recommended settings are:
Size = 1024 Bytes
Num = 256.
Updated to Firmware 1.1.23 and did a couple of tests using the Panel and switching around between Presets and Panel Mode. Seems to work pretty well. However, I don’t fully understand how the Panel Buffer works. It seems to be overwritten every time I select a Preset either from the Editor or from the Hardware. Not sure whether that’s on purpose.
