I just built my first Theremin (from a kit) for my sister for her BDAY…
I made the housing myself and came up with the design as well.. I even hand made/stained the wood panels (ala moog) myself.. As you might be able to tell, I am very proud…
The real shocker was this… Because of a flaw in my design my Theremin has a METAL TOUCH PLATE IN BACK THAT ADDS OSC MODULATION !!! It sounds as if when you touch the back panel ( which is not connected at all to the theremin circuit, but rather the LED circuit) it adds a modulated pitch of the original pitch and actually makes a very percussive sound.. It doesn’t completely mod the osc to another whole pitch but rather it adds the tone of the osc modulated on top of the original tone.. Almost like a duophonic theremin.. The percussive tone I speak of is NOT the percussive BLIP you hear when you touch the pitch antena, it is a mellow low pitched BLIP that does not affect the regular operation of the pitch.
When I found this out I almost had a heart attack. I felt as if Bob was watching over me to guide me in what seemed the wrong direction, but turned out to be the most crazy direction I have ever been musically with a theremin…Plugging it into the Voyager is like whacky..It will definitely be on the album… THANKS BOB !!!
