Hi All,
I recently purchased a new voyager and am having a couple of issues using it with Logic Studio. I have the moog audio running into a motu ultralite which is connected to my laptop via firewire. The midi to/from the moog is connected to an edirol usb midi box.
When I record Midi into logic, it works perfectly, notes and velocity are recorded. However when I play back a recorded midi pattern, or even one i have entered into a midi region directly, the moog does not recognizes the different velocity of notes. As I’m not a very good keyboard player this is fairly important for me when recording audio. I’ve also looked through the manual and can’t see a CC# listed for note velocity?
Also I was wondering if there are any other people out there who use a voyager with Logic Studio? I was hoping someone may have a channel strip with cc’s mapped or environment templates they may wish to share?
Anyway, I’m loving the Voyager so far and can’t wait to be able to really get the most out of it so any help or suggestions you could provide would be greatly appreciated,
cheers,
Ben
AFAIK, velocity values form part of the Note On message and are not Continuous Controllers. Check through the menus to verify KB velocity is being routed to volume. This may also depend on the particular patch.
With regard to other CCs, the Voyager uses a non-standard subset of these, so you probably will have to make (or find) a custom map.
thanks l.o., I’ll check that out. I figured that the routing would already be set though as the sound seems responsive to velocity when i play from the keyboard.
I think i can work out how to create the other mappings, its a fairly time consuming process though - just thought i might be able to cash in on someone else’s hard work
I’m still definitely not getting aftertouch response. I’ve tested on several different patches including ones where i did the pot mapping myself. The synth responds to a/t messages from the keyboard but not from external midi sent by logic. This is quite a serious issue for me as i’m not a great player and really need to sequence my synth parts to record and it sounds crap playing every note at the same velocity.
Is there not anyone else who uses logic with a voyager?
Sorry,
but why using pod-mapping at all?
Just use velocity or aftertouch on the mod bus 2 and route it to the filter, volume or whatever from there first. This does work here very well on my Voyager.
