I recieved my new 50 pin ribbon cable today to fit the new digital board in my AE. Steve D. gave me a free T for all my troubles. ![]()
The original grey cable was too short to fit properly so Steve made one up for me. Get this, the cables they work with in the engineering dapartment are rainbow colored!
If you’ve ever opened your Voyager and looked at the ribbon cables you’ll understand the point. I’ll post pictures of the new board and the colorfull cable on Squarewave within the next couple of days.
Anyway, the install went relatively smoothly but my cheap Radio Shack meter OL’d when i swithed OSC1 to 32’ and 1’ with an initial 30mV offset (the install inst. say a +/- 30mV offset may be expected). I just assumed everything was fine, closed everything up and began working with my new sounds. Everything is in tune and appears to be working fine.
But, when I switch to Real Panel Param. my Voyager doesn’t produce any sound except for an occasional blip. OS 3.1 was pre-installed on the new board and the screen shows it.
So, does anyone else with 3.1 and the hardware upgrade have this problem? I’m thinking that it is a software issue because everything else appears to be in working order. I can’t remember this issue coming up here or in Squarewave.
If anyone has any thoughts please let me know.
BTW, I know issues can be dicey outside the US when it comes to Moog service but my experience so far here in the states has been excellent. My hat goes off the Steve D., Amos and the rest of the Moog staff.
