I was wondering whether or not supplying the cutoff cv jack with a control voltage bypasses the mf-101’s envelope generator. Basically I’d like to be able to use both at the same time. I’m pretty sure the unit is capable of taking a mix of the two, afterall, you can turn the cutoff knob while the envelope is sweeping the filter, but I wanted to be sure before I buy.
Thanks for your help.
You should be able to use both at the same time. I did with my old Big Briar MF-101 - you can hear it here: taurus VI
Thanks for clearing this up. That’s great news. I enjoyed the clip, as well. It reminded me at times of some of Tool’s interludes.
The MF-101 was my first real analog efect. I want to use it, to be more “life” and warm to soft synths like Absynth. The MF-101, really do the job. Because it´s no true bypass, U can use it if its bypassed, giving life and warm to the sound (without filtering).
When I put the cut in a low freq and the resonance in a high value (so the MF start to self oscilate) I felt in love with this fat and deep bass sound. A few months after, I buy a little phatty SE and I´m very happy.
The only MF contra is that U can´t get only one. You want more and more. The next month I´m going to buy the MF-102, to give some Ring Modulation to the Phatty.
