Quick Little Phatty Stage Question

Yesterday I purchased a Little Phatty Stage edition for $700, at that price I simply couldn’t pass it up. I already own a Stage II, but wanted to have two for live shows. Everything on it seems to be working fine, but I noticed the pitch and mod wheels were considerably “looser” in comparison to the Stage II. My question is if the first Stage editions were manufactured this way, or if it is a result of the previous owners usage habits? I owned the LP TE once upon a time, and I don’t really remember if they felt the same… Also the buttons seem to be less responsive on the Stage than the Stage II, but I’m willing to bet this was just a a part of the overhaul going from the different versions.

Thanks

I could be wrong but, I think the wheels loosen up on all of them eventually.

Maybe the stage 2 got a beefed up LHC, but I don’t think so.

It was probably played harder or maybe just because it’s been around longer.

It is a fairly common and seemes to occur without abuse.

My stage 1 wheels are getting there. I am holding out to get everything done at once. Wheels, keybed, CV out mod.

Until I visited the factory, I hd only seen a single Phatty unit at a guitar center, and that was a stage 1. I didn’t think the pitch and modwheels felt all that wonderful, it felt like the rubber wouldn’t last and the keybed felt really crappy (in comparison to the voyager).

I understand they considerably improved upon the feeling of the keybed.

I don’t know if this answers your question, but you can always return it to Moog for upgrades and they will fix it like new.

Thanks for the info. I’m probably going to get it a tune up in the spring. I just wasn’t sure how much was improved between the Stage and Stage II models. It’s difficult to find any info online about it. I’m probably going to keep the OS (1.3) and just use it live a few times until then.
