Questions

1st off since I’m new here i’d like to say Hi.

My questions are the following:

  1. Where can I see the different synth Moog products? Can’t find it anywhere on the website http://www.moogmusic.com/

  2. Is this a Moog?

It’s Henrik form Sonata Arctica btw. :sunglasses:

Does Moog have any keytar products of this style?
If so can someone point me out to some ressources since I really can’t find them after really trying to look around, all I can find is the piano bar and other accessories.

Thanks!

BlackSheep,

I’m not sure if I understand your questions correctly, but the Voyager is the only synth being sold by Moog. There are the MoogerFooger Effects and the CP-251 controller also. If you want another Moog synth, you’ll have to go to Ebay and look for one of the older ones like The Source or a Model D.

The keyboard that peson is playing is not a Moog. It looks to be some sort of MIDI controller, maybe a Roland AX-7.

However, there is a “keytar” Moog that was made long ago. Its called the Liberation, check it out:
http://www.vintagesynth.com/moog/liberation.shtml

These can be bought used on eBay or other classified resources, but are no longer in production. Keep in mind that anything with “Moog” on it will be very expensive!

 Thanks for a quick reply..yeah the one in the pic is a roland Ax-1 selling for 500$us…The moog liberation is about 1000$us. I prefer the vintage look of the liberation (eventhough it IS vintage) but I just want it as a toy to fool around with in fornt of my mirror and stuff :sunglasses:

So I’m probably going to go for the roland.

Moog products are top notch. You can’t go wrong with Moog, that’s for sure.

The Roland AX-7 is just a MIDI controller. It doesn’t actually make any sound. You use it to control a MIDI device, such as a synth.

On top of that, vintage is good. If you want a toy for in front of your mirror, buy a toy. $500 is alot just to look cool and not make music.

Another cool keytar, if you are so insistant, is the Roland SH-101. There’s lots more. Just look around.

lol

Actually, no synthesizer, no instrument at all makes sound. Want proof? Put your synth on the floor and wait for it to make a sound. Don’t hold your breath.

Musicians make sounds. They use synthesizers, amplifiers,non-amplified instruments, effect pedals, etc. But without musicians, all instruments are silent.

What about instruments that are played by sequencers? They need someone to program the sequencer.

Well they generate sound after input from the musician (except the midi controller if it ain’t connected to anything)

Not true! My AE makes a lot of noise. When the backlights are on, it goes “SKWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE”!

Without anything to control, all midi controllers are silent. No matter how much you play them.

hmmmm the SHS-101 doesn’t seem to be a keytar.

I’m well aware that the AX-1 is a midi controller, that’s not a problem.

I’ve seen it go for about 300$, so I’ll keep looking around.
But the AX-1 seems like the best one. If Henrik uses it, I’m sure it’s the best

I’m not worried at all about the time response of the keys cause I’ve seen Henrik live and he plays as fast as lightning.

I said SH-101 not SHS-101(which as near as I can tell is a bit for a horse. http://images.google.com/images?q=shs-101&hl=en&hs=48e&lr=&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&sa=N&tab=wi )

This was the only good pic I could find showing it in it’s keytar nature:

here’s another:

It is a keytar, but it has a detachable handle so you can lay it down and play it regular. It is a synthesizer not a midi controller. It came in 3 colors: red, blue, and grey.

Yeah, the SH-101 can be fitted with the hand grip and a strap, which makes it playable like the Liberation, or like a bass guitar. [After all, the 101 was supposed to be a keyboard version of the TB-303 bass sequencer.]
