Question on envelopes

The T3 spec states there are two Attack-Decay-Sustain envelopes, like the Mini, right?

But the description states:

“DECAY: sets the fall time for the VCA [or VCF] Envelope Generator when a note is released”

So it’s really an ASR envelope mis-labeled as an ADS?

Just checking.

After reading MC’s Taurus page

http://www.retrosynth.com/~analoguediehard/studio/keyboards/moog_taurus/

it sounds like the “decay” parameter on the original also was a release stage.

Funny they kept it the same for nostalgia

But the MiniD did have true ADS “contour generators”, right?

Edit: More info:

Can’t wait for that manual

Actually, the spec on the web site is incorrect for the Filter Envelope Generator. The filter EG is a simple A/D, with no sustain - it’s identical to the filter EG in the Taurus 1.

The VCA envelope is an ASD (again identical to the T1). For this envelope, the Decay parameter actually sets the release (fall) time when a note is released. The DECAY footswitch controls whether Decay is ON or OFF (this works like the Release switch on a Voyager). If the footswitch is OFF, there’s no Decay. If ON, the Decay releases according to the Decay EG setting.

Hope this helps

Thanks Greg, you always have the right info!

I guess I should have looked at this:

Wonder if that amount control goes negative…

It’s positive only - just like the Taurus 1.
