So after deciding to get an LP I found a retailer in Chicago offering an exhibition Stage 2 for $899. I emailed them to see if anything was wrong with, they said it was in mint condition, no scratches or dents and working perfectly. I finally set enough money aside 2 days ago and ordered it online. They emailed confirmation and charged my card $928. They called the next day and said “someone beat me to it” and they no longer had the exhibition model. They offered to ship me a brand new one for an extra $137. It’s still a hell of a deal getting a brand new one for $1050 but according to Illinois consumer law they have to sell it to me at $899. I left it with them that I would call in a few days to pay the extra $137. They still have my $928.
So, should I just accept I am getting a good deal on a new LP or demand it for the price I have already paid?? Their website never stated they only had one exhibition model and they had a quantity box meaning I could have ordered and been charged for 10 if I really wanted to.
careful: they could also return your payment and refuse to do business with you. when you approach them treat them with diplomacy or they will become defensive and unwilling to compromise.
what’s the old saying? “you catch more flies with sugar than you do with vinegar.”
They baited and switched. Its not a priveledge to do business with them, its a priveledge for them to get your money.
Id ask for one at the price they advertised or Id just ask for a refund. They just tok your money and THEN told you that they didn’t have the unit you specified. They shoudl have contacted you first before charging your card. Now that they have the majority of your money you can easily be suckered into paying just a little more.
There are other places where you can get a good deal on it. I don’t think that under those circumstances that 1065 is that great of a deal.
try novamusik but their website is down right now. You should be able to get them for under a thousand if you know where to look.
There’s no where I can find offering a brand new one for $1050. There is a few place’s online selling customer returns with blemishes, dents, or scratches but I want my LP to look as good as it sounds. According to Illinois state consumer law they are required to sell it at the price I paid AFAIK. My source is a little vague.
sweetwater have the best customer service. I got my monitors there and they’re follow up call to confirm is awesome. Can’t beat some candy in the box too. Great service
my monitors came with white specks on the cabinet and I emailed them just to let them know. they offered to send a replacement and pay to ship them back. didn’t want to go through the hassle so just kept them. Quick and easy to deal with from my experience
I called the Expert Audio Center manager and informed him of the Illinois state consumer law…
EAC “I don’t what law your talking about, I am just going to refund you”
ME “I would rather it shipped to me for the price i’ve paid”
EAC “I am not doing that, im refunding you”
Anytime I tried to say anything else he cut me off by saying he’s refunding me. Rude, not understanding and doesn’t care about his mistake and the consumer law to protect us from this.
I called this morning and still haven’t been refunded. All in all DON NOT DEAL with these cowboys. I’ve emailed Moog.
Yeah it will take a few days for the bank to process your thing. If you want go to the BBB or mail them a copy of the law.
I told you, they obviously baited and switched you, be it intentionally or not it still happened. Call novamusik i guarentee you that youll be more than pleased…and if you are in the chicago area its not a far drive to go there in person as they are in milwaukee.
I’m the biggest scavenger for deals and do way too much research into things. I am hoping Nova Music can match EAC price of $1050. Eric there told me $1099 and as much as I would love to give my business to them over EAC $49 is a fair bit of doh in these financial times
