Quality of patch cables used for CV control

I was wondering if the quality of the build and materials used with instrument patch cables can cause any signal degradation while using them to patch control voltages around. I’m a guitarist, and in the guitar tone world, some people are very finicky about their cables and how they affect their tone for better or worse. I’ve used various patch cables between my 'Foogers and really haven’t noticed much change between cables. However, some people with modulars or actual Moog synths would probably have much more experience with this.

I wonder if cables with high capacitance have any effect. Then again, it seems like there would be little problem with cables that are 6"-3’ long. Just seeing if anyone has discovered anything in this subject with cv control.

I make my own cables from three conductor computer cable I find in the garbage or that I find in Chester Electronics’ bargain bin for CV’s. Just a cheap, basic cable will get you through the day when it comes to CV’s. Audio, on the other hand…yeah…good cables are reserved for audio.

Crapper cables work great for CV. Behringer patchbays are good to this end too.

The only thing you might need to worry about is shoddy build quality, stuff will probably fall apart with heavy use where quality components may give you a longer lifespan. IMO just get what you need whereever you can for a good price and use it.

cool because i bought 16 real cheap multi-color cables of probable junk origin, but they work just fine. Thanks for the low-down.
