Is there any pros/cons to purchasing a Voyager from Moog directly as opposed to buying from a dealer when it will have to be shipped anyway?
I don’t think so.
I recently bought an XL and wrestled with the same question.
The only benefit I could find was that it was going to take just a few days less to get it direct from Moog as opposed to going through Sweetwater. But Sweetwater let me break the payments up across 3 months, without interest, and also has supposedly really good tech support and warranty service. So I went with Sweetwater.
If the dealer price is hundreds of dollars cheaper than the Moog factory, then what’s to decide?
Sometimes, dealers can offer “extra goodies” as a package deal, like Nova Musik does, and often at a lower cost than the MSRP.
Also, dealers sometimes have special editions. I think dealers are typically the better way to go. In fact, I’d bet MM would encourage you to go through a dealer if at all possible. I imagine they’d rather focus on building synths and not on shipping and tracking and all the headache that goes along with that.
Thanks. It would be Sweetwater if not Moog. I’ve dealt with them before and been happy. I have omg serious gearlust to order the XL but have to wait to July 31st. Being a wee bit older I’m not sure my heart can take the stress of having to wait much longer.
