I have been beta testing this software. Its gone to open beta and I can talk about it now. Anyway I have two access codes I can give to two people so you can use Record with no limits until it is released in a couple months. I figured that moog fans might like this daw. I think I like it . I like the ssl 9oook mixer recreation. It sounds super good. I dont work for the propheads. I’m just a big fan of Reason, its workflow (like hardware) and all the cv routing you can do. I don’t want the two invite codes I have to go to waste, and I figured this might be the place people could appreciate a product that doesn’t have the whole kitchen in it but has great work flow and I think we all here can agree sometimes workflow, quality, and ease of use out shines tons of features, limitations can leads to more creative music making. Just to warn you this is a closed program ie no plugins so its not going to be for everyone but combined with reason and a little creative patching reason has pretty much all you need. ie Thor the big synth in reason can be used to out put cv from your audi outs on your interface into your cv ins on your foogers or synths. People with reason 4 are going to get the most out of this program. Pm me your email and the first two people that pm me will be sent the invites.
uhhh reason and record do NOT have MIDI OUT capabilities last time i checked.
did you test this? I have a invite code but haven’t had time to screw around with record yet.
Your right they don’t have midi out but you can get Thor to outuput cv, it’s a routing trick I guess it’s not commonly known. Do a search on youtube for PeffTV this guy knows reason inside and out and has a lot of cool gear he sequences with reason TB 303(no midi) SEM, mf 107 104 101 mooger fooger synth. Heres a couple urls that will point you to all this madness.
The down side not every audio interface works. The motu stuff works for sure everything else is hit or miss.

I would take the time to play with record . There are some amazing things it does. It also sounds different than other daw’s I think.
The SSL 9000K Mixer has some magic in it. It seems to give your recordings a nice punch. Almost like recoding to tape then back to a daw, also reason instruments sound better through it. The time stretching is the best I have ever used. I like propellerhead software though. Rebirth was the first music software I learned to use, their workflow makes sense to me.
Hope you enjoy the videos, your stoked if you have a motu interface.
Heres another with a 303 being controlled by din-sync from reason

I had an invitation to the open Beta, but unfortunately, it’s Windows or Intel-Mac only. We G5 users are SOL… ![]()

I’m really impressed with where this technology is headed. I had no idea you could route the CV signals in Reason out of a MOTU interface (I knew about Volta and some of the competition). Reason always felt like a black box program, but I guess you can really get inside the routing now. I’ve been using Reason since 1.0, but stopped upgrading after 2.5. Maybe I should think about that . . .
this is nuts, can’t believe i hadn’t heard about it until now, thanks for the information on Thor. I’ll have to see if this works with my firebox.
It seems that only interfaces with dc coupled outputs work for this.
yeah i found out yesterday that my firebox is ac coupled, ah well. Propheads should really friggin get on board with midi out, it would enrich their software 10 fold. ![]()
Lack of Midi implementation is why I ditched that program years ago. It is a great program if you can’t afford or don’t use gear. PropellorHeads think everything should be made in the computer and I disagree. I went on to Cubase SX and then settled in with Ableton Live with great results.
I was excited to hear that they are releasing this Record program, and I hope someday they bow to the needs of many and introduce Midi capabilities to Reason (or at least create another add-on program).
Aye, I’m using Cubase 5.0 atm for DAW work. I’m just boggled that for Record they didn’t add MIDI OUT. What a waste. ![]()
The only problem with that trick is you need a hardware box that has DC coupled outputs:
I wonder if the mp-201 could be used to do this. If not now, in the future.
I bet Amos is already on it.
