I just experienced something I’ve never experienced before. While I was playing my Voyager, it sort of rebooted itself. After that, certain memory locations had altered volume parameters. My Voyager is a Performer with no hardware upgrades running System and Boot version 3.2. After resetting all the apparently altered programs, everything seems to be alright.
Did you have it hooked up to anything midi… (, sequencer, drum machine, arpegios, etc) that may have sent bunk midi info that the V couldn’t handle. This happened to me once.
Shakti - No, she was doing a solo.
till - YES! That’s a possibility! I should have thought of that. This area’s prone to them. I wasn’t directly aware of one, but I can’t rule out the possibility.
But I called Moog Tech Support and spoke to Amos. I remembered that I’d been touching my Voyager with both hands - right hand on the button panel’s metal case with thumb working in edit mode while my left hand was resting on the wheel block. Apparently an inherent problem in older Voyagers. He asked me to take out the two screws holding the wheel block in and check the screws holding in the circuit board. There should be a ground tag in the center of the board. If it IS there, then it might have a cold solder joint. Well, it’s there, and the cold solder joint is a good possibility. But I’m just going to leave it for now. It’s never happened until 'til now, so I’m not worried about it. I’ll be more careful not to embrace my voyager so tightly in the future.
