Anyone know where I can get ahold of a replacement for my modulation wheel assembly? The circuit itself still works fine, but I have to use the switches instead of the wheel. Kinda shitty as I can change the amount of modulation anymore!
Thanks!
James
Do you still have the old mod wheel? Is it Cracked? If so you can fix it and it WILL work again!
Or you can fashion your own fairly easily with the right tools. Maybe a friend or neighbor has them..
I’ve done it.
-
go to the hardware store and see if they have scraps of plexiglass.. Whole sheets are expensive and obviously overkill for your project..
-
Measure diameter of the wheel and use a circular saw attachement (for a drill) and VERY CAREFULLY cut out the initial shape! If the surface or saw is not level the edge of the wheel will be slanted…
-
Measure dead center on the wheel and drill a hole so that the wheel fits VERY tight on the shaft of the mod (wheel) amt pot..
-
Sand the hell out of the edge. If someone has a belt sanded you can use great. You can put a round shafted screwdriver in the hole you just drilled (in the wheels center) and hold it to the sander and it will rotate evenly.
-
Using a dremel or similar tool, carefully plot out your finger notch. You can line it up with the pitch wheel to see how far you need to sand the groove down..
-
Now the tricky part. The wheels have a set screw, but hastily trying to route the hole in your awesome new wheel may potentially crack all your hard work to smithereens! I would suggest using some sort of strong adhesive, being that your center hole is TIGHT around the pot shaft..
Trial and error, but you can totally do it.. You find wheels/assemblies on line.. Or you can see if Kevin Lightner has any wheels or such. his email is @.com
Where * = synthfool ..
(sorry thats how he always does it
)
Hope that helps
