Hi I am a newbie here and i need some advice…Before I open it up I need to ask a question..
There is a slight attack on the osc…I will check the pot but are there other things that can cause this..?

I would like to offer a response to your question but the terminology is not precise enough to understand what the situation is. Attack is mostly associated with the envelope generator (EG). The EG produces a dynamic control voltage that usually controls the filter (VCF) or volume via the voltage controlled amplifier (VCA) Most envelope generators have Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release controls (therefore usually abbreviated ADSR). A, D and R adjust timing parameters that determine how long it takes for each of those functions to complete, while sustain sets a particular level where the ADSR voltage remains as long as the key is depressed holding the gate true. This is entry level information included in most any users manual, and this information must be comprehended before you can begin to understand what should happen when you turn the knobs on your synthesizer.
Accurate terminology is essential when discussing the operation or malfunction of most anything. When the operation or terminology is not understood, it is more productive to back up a bit and ask questions that will help to clarify your understanding. Oscillators do not have “attack” though they may be frequency modulated by the EG. The VCA output can be amplitude modulated by the EG hence changing what we hear coming from the VCO. “Checking the pot” might mean something different here in Oregon than it does elsewhere. On the other hand, “checking the pot” is sometimes directly associated with unclear use of language and the ensuing misunderstandings! ![]()
I will clarify this… ![]()
It’s as if the attack pot is not returning to zero…Always a bit of attack when hitting a key.
I have experience fixing and restoring my synths…But the prodigy is new to me and I need some pointers before i open the synth.
If it’s not a faulty pot…I need to know other possible reasons…?
