so what is the sory with the prodigy… is it a fun synthesizer? does it sound better or worse than the rogue?
i had a rogue and due to its simple layout und lack of anything superfluous (superfluous for me, that is - i know many users will object, but i am no fan of complicated stuff), i enjoyed it more than my voyager.
now i am thinking of buying another simple synthesizer, and am looking at the prodigy.
i like the wood, that’s a big plus, but how about the mechanical parts? i normally don’t like sliders (my rogue had a bad crackle issue…).
but how does the produgy hold against the rogue? i know it lacks a noise thing. (this doesn’t matter as i have noise in my dx100.)
does the prodigy have an audio in, and is this any good?
There is no contest. The Prodigy is a true scaled down minimoog, and the Rogue is a poorer and cheaper imitation of the Prodigy. Cheaper construction, no on-board psu and a flimsier case. The Prodigy lacks noise, but sounds fatter and has a better layout. The slider switches are often dodgy though, and this is one area where the Rogue wins… Oh, and the price thing of course.
But The UK seems a bit strange for cheaper Moog prices at the moment though… I’ve seen Rogues go for more than Prodigys on eBay UK.
Later Prods have an audio in, and it’s as useful as that on the Rogue. Earlier examples have merely a hi-level audio out socket and er.. that’s it.
